Parabens - Parabens can be found in makeup, body washes, deodorants, shampoos, facial cleansers, food and pharmaceutical products. It acts as preservatives to prevent the growth of bacteria, mold and yeast in cosmetic products. It is associated with increased risk of breast cancer.

They are derived from petroleum or coal tar sources and is a potential skin irritant that are linked to ADHD in children.

Fragrance - Synthetic fragrances are associated with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and potential effects on the reproductive system.

Phthalates - Phthalates are used to increase the flexibility and softness of plastics, they can be found in deodorants, perfumes/colognes, hair sprays and moisturizers. Sometimes it’s added to fragrances and not listed as the ingredient. It is known to be endocrine disruptors and is linked to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive birth defects in males and females.

Triclosan -Triclosan is used as an antimicrobial chemical that irritates skin and disrupts thyroid and reproductive hormones. It can be found in toothpaste, antibacterial soaps and deodorants.
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)/ Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES):

SLS is a surfactant that can be found in most of the personal care and cleaning products. It can irritate skin, lung, and eye. When combine with other chemicals to form nitrosamines, a carcinogen, they might cause kidney and respiratory damage. SLS can be found in shampoo, body wash and cleanser, mascara and acne treatment.

Formaldehyde - Formaldehyde is a preservative that is used in many cosmetic products to help prevent bacteria growth. It is linked to nasal and nasopharyngeal cancers and can potentially cause allergic skin reactions and harm immune system. This ingredient can be found in nail polish, body washes, conditioners, shampoos, etc.

Toluene - Toluene is used to dissolve paint, it can be found in nail polish and hair coloring or bleaching products. It may cause developmental damage in fetus and affects immune system.

Propylene Glycol - Known as a skin-conditioning agent, propylene glycol can be found in moisturizers, sunscreen, makeup products, conditioners, shampoo and hair sprays. It is linked to dermatitis and is classified as a skin irritant.

Sunscreen Chemicals - Some of the common sunscreen chemicals are benzophenone, PABA, avobenzone, homosalate and ethoxycinnmate. They are used to absorb ultraviolet light. Since these chemicals can be easily absorbed into the body, they might cause cellular damage and cancer.
